Kay Norris | Board Member
Kay is a native of the Carolinas and a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a degree in Radio Television and Motion Pictures. She has done graduate work in business and early childhood education. After graduation she joined the local Chapel Hill radio station, where she and other entrepreneurial types led the company’s growth from one station to a small media conglomerate, including radio, publishing, sports and cable television divisions. Kay was involved in all areas of the Village Companies, and retired as the president of the Publishing Company. Religious and Community service have always been an important component of her life; she has led and served on numerous boards, including acting as Board Chair of the United Way of North Carolina, Opera Carolina and was the co-Chair of Women of Vision Charlotte. She has served in various roles on boards in The Triangle (Raleigh Durham Chapel Hill) American Advertising Federation, Chamber of Commerce, and Carol Woods. In Charlotte she has served JDRF, The Arts and Sciences Council, and Discovery Place. She is an elder in the Presbyterian Church USA and served as moderator of the Deacons in her congregation. Kay has visited Ethiopia three times, two times to visit HHOJ's center in Mekelle. She is married to Robert B. Norris, an attorney, and they have two adult sons.
